# Tips & Tricks

> Five things to try in Pretty. Click through the previews or play a demo.

export const PrettyTip = ({kind}) => {
  const host = useRef(null);
  useEffect(() => {
    const container = host.current;
    if (!container) throw new Error("Pretty demo container is missing");
    const demo = document.createElement("pretty-tip-demo");
    demo.setAttribute("kind", kind);
    container.append(demo);
    return () => demo.remove();
  }, [kind]);
  return <div ref={host} className="not-prose my-6" />;
};

## Try a few creative directions

Ask for mockups. Compare three or four designs, then pick your favourite.

## Start from a slide pool

Give Pretty your content and ask it to use an approved layout. [More about slide pools](/slide-pools/overview).

## Upload your own reference slides

Upload a deck in **Library (Assets) → Layouts**. Reuse its slides as references in chat.

## Give Pretty more to work with

Images, Markdown, PDFs, spreadsheets: attach the material and ask for the whole task. [Adding references](/chat/references).

## Make yourself comfortable

Open **Settings → Preferences**. Try the language, appearance, and compatibility controls. [All preferences](/help/preferences).
